DHARAN, August 12: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) raided the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) on Thursday.
The CIAA has been investigating a case of corruption at the BPKIHS for the past some time.
DRI raids several Birgunj-based firms
A team led by SSP Tek Bahadur Tamang of the central office of the CIAA, raided the institution today. “The team conducted the raid acting on complaints of corruption at BPKIHS filed at the regional and central offices,” said Tamang. “The investigation will last for a few more days,” he added.
BPKIHS officials have been facing allegations of corruption while building MCH Building, tender conducted for selection of consultant for Heart and Cancer Disease Building, construction of medical building, HDU, city scan machine, MRI machine procurement etc.
Even though the government has been conducting investigations time and again, no one has been convicted so far.
In recent months, medics, students and employees of BPKIHS have been staging protests demanding a fair investigation and action against the corrupt.
