KATHMANDU, Sept 11: A team from the Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI), Kathmandu, led by the Department’s Information Officer Navraj Adhikari, conducted extensive raids on over a dozen businesses in Birgunj. These raids were conducted over the course of last Tuesday through Friday.

The monitoring team carried out inspections at several establishments, including Nidhi Hardware, GTC Tiles, Om Hardware, Anil Hardware, Jai Mata Di Iron, and Ananda Hardware, located along the Bypass Road in Birgunj.
DRI Director General Nawa Raj Dhungana clarified that these monitoring efforts were initiated based on information obtained from the driver of a seized truck in Kathmandu. The investigation was further prompted by reports of certain Birgunj firms issuing informal invoices.
Madhav Rajpal, vice president of the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed concerns that these actions by the Department are causing undue hardship to industrialists already grappling with the challenges of an economic recession.
