KATHMANDU, Aug 3: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Monday directed the state-owned Nepal Oil Corporation to halt the process of buying 50 to 70 ropanies of land meant for expansion of its Thankot depot.

“The process of purchasing the land does not meet the existing legal criteria for land purchase by the government,” the CIAA said in a statement.

The NOC board had decided to purchase up to 70 ropanis of land worth over Rs 5 million nearly 1.5 months ago.
