KATHMANDU, Sept 19: The Civil Movement Against Corruption, a civil society group, has demanded that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) initiate a serious investigation into the land scam at the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC). The government on Monday sacked Gopal Khadka from the post of managing director of NOC on the charge of embezzling millions of rupees while purchasing land for the NOC.

The group that welcomed the sacking, however, has stressed that his removal from the post is not enough and that he must be punished for the corruption.
“CIAA is the body that is entrusted with the responsibility of investigating into such cases and bring the culprit to book,” read a statement issued by the group on Tuesday. The group has said there is a need to remain vigilant over how CIAA pursues the case and “the CIAA had earlier deliberately let the accused including Ganesh Thapa and Chudamani Sharma of the hook.”
