CIAA directs IOM to suspend its staffer Lama

KATHMANDu, April 19: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has directed the Tribhuvan University, Institute of Medicine (IOM), Dean's Office to suspend the Chief Office Assistant at the Office, Urmila Lama, charging her of misappropriating hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The anti-graft body has stated that Lama embezzled hundreds of thousands of rupees in the fees fixed for the foreign students in the elective course by IOM.


The CIAA said that Lama took more fees than the stipulated amount from various foreign students on different dates and also failed to enter that in the University's fund, thereby causing loss to the University.

It has written to the IOM Dean's Office to suspend Lama citing that the accused might destroy the evidence against her as the CIAA carries out its investigation into the embezzlement.

Also today, CIAA arrested red-handed Devendra Prasad Kumhar, a land surveyor at the District Land Survey Office, Banke while taking bribe of Rs 10,000 from a service seeker at the office and forwarded necessary investigation.

Likewise, the CIAA today filed a charge-sheet against Suresh Kumar Bajracharya, the administrative officer at Radio Nepal Singha Durbar seeking legal action against him on the charge of submitting fake certificates of educational qualification for appointment as well as promotion purposes. RSS
