The CIAA stated that public property has been registered in an individual's name, the land available due to the extraction in the riverine areas has been encroached upon and the heritage and archives of archaeological importance and even temples have been turned into ramparts.
Spokesperson of CIAA Krishna Hari Pushkar said that the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority, the Department of Roads, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), the Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City and other bodies concerned have been directed to check such activities as these activities constitute corrupt practices and are illegal.
Pushkar said the CIAA has also asked the bodies responsible for the protection of public properties, heritages, archives and monuments to make arrangements for sustainable and reliable measures for the protection of these heritages and public properties.
The commission has drawn the government's attention to the need of immediately constituting a high-powered committee and to take an appropriate decision for resolving the problem of encroachment of public properties and heritages as well as the usurpation of public land which has assumed the shape of a national problem.
