POKHARA, August 8: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has shown concern over the land encroachment of Fewa Lake after Republica Daily published news about it.
The anti-graft body wrote a letter to Fewa Lake Conservation and Management Office based in Pokhara-Lekhanath Metropolitan City, seeking details about the land encroachment. The anti-graft body also asked the Metropolitan City to provide detailed report regarding Phewa Lake conservation.
“The CIAA has sought details about the work details carried out under the Fewa Lake conservation,” an engineer of the Metropolitan City told Republica Online,” adding, “We are proving the details.”

The Metropolitan City has submitted work details and a study report prepared by a commission formed four years ago, said the engineer.
“We have submitted a report concerning the study and the initiative taken by the Pokhara-Lekhanath Metropolitan City,” added he.
The probe committee had submitted a report to the government stating that as much as 1,692 ropani of land was registered in the name of various individuals.
The committee also recommended the government to scrap the ownership of the encroached land.
