CIAA arrests engineer for allegedly soliciting bribe

KATHMANDU, Oct 3: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has apprehended an engineer accused of soliciting a bribe from a service user.


The arrest was made following an investigation into allegations of bribery involving Chandragiri Municipality Ward No. Assistant Sub-engineer, Bijaya Lakshmi Pant, who is assigned to the ward number 14’s office.

The CIAA, led by a team from the Tangal office, acted upon information and a formal complaint regarding Pant's alleged demand for a bribe. It is reported that Pant had solicited Rs 25,000 from a service recipient in exchange for issuing a completion certificate for a building.


Spokesperson Bhola Dahal, representing the CIAA, confirmed that Pant was taken into custody in Satungal, situated in Chandragiri Municipality Ward No. 11, along with the aforementioned amount. The CIAA is currently conducting further investigations into the case to ensure a comprehensive inquiry.
