KATHMADU, Oct 6 : Crowded! That’s the first thing anyone would think as soon as one entered the venue. With little seating capacity, that too arranged in an odd way, and the passage way being a smoker’s paradise, the event started an hour late, like any other event in Nepal and it wasn’t surprising.
Chivas La Exclusiva, an event organized by We Fear Silence (WFS), took place on Friday at the Regal Ball Room of Yak & Yeti Hotel in Durbar Marg, Kathmandu. During the event, Milan International Wedding Photography, a Chinese wedding photography chain, was officially launched. The chain has over 260 branches around the world and it officially opened a branch in Nepal in January 2012.[break]
Local designers Tia Tula, Nuzhat Qazi, Uma Namkul, Mamta Gurung Joshi and Antee Gurung, all designers of House of Fashion, presented their designs. Models donning daily wears to wedding dresses, all walked down the runway while Mukti and Revival performed and took the stage for more than half an hour. The model’s wearing the clothes didn’t really have proper fits while one of the male models still carried off a coat with short sleeves.
Who’s who of Kathmandu could be seen in the event enjoying their time with their little chit chats rather than enjoying the fashion show besides the parents and friends of the models and organizers.
Contrary to what was promised, the night was not as much a unique affair compared to other events held in Kathmandu. There is something in Nepali fashion shows that just doesn’t meet the standards but La Exclusiva was a good try in bringing in freshness. However, it wasn’t as exclusive as expected.
