KATHMANDU, May 23: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Giriraj Mani Pokhrel and Chinese ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong have discussed bilateral coordination and cooperation for the development of education in Nepal.
During their meeting at the ministry on Tuesday, Minister Pokhrel and envoy Hong talked about scholarship programs for higher education, equivalency and use of science and technology, according to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST).
Compulsory Education Act within five months: Minister Pokhrel
Pointing out the need for partnership between the universities of the two countries, Minister Pokhrel appreciated China for providing scholarships to Nepali students to study medical education and technical subjects, helping in the reconstruction of schools after 2015 earthquake, technical education and vocational training.
Minister Pokhrel also expressed hope for further consolidation of Nepal-China ties during the upcoming China visit by Prime Minister KP Oli.
