KATHMANDU, May 11: The Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu handed over medical supplies to the Ministry of Health and Population to fight the viral outbreak of COVID-19 on Monday.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Hou Yangi, amid a handover ceremony provided the medical materials to Minister for Health and Population, Bhanubaktha Dhakal.

According to the embassy, the medical supplies include protective masks, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), gloves and testing kits.

The medical supplies include 40000 units of novel coronavirus nucleic acid diagnostic kit, 10000 pieces of disposable coverall, 10000 pieces of medical goggles, 20000 pieces of N95 face masks and 800000 pieces of surgical masks.

"This measure is among Chinese efforts to implement the consensus of the leaders of the two countries to support Nepal in fighting against COVID-19. Previously, some provincial local governments of China, charity foundations, and enterprises had donated three batches of materials to Nepal, including test kits, PPEs and N95 Masks," the embassy stated.

We are a community with a shared future, and COVID-19 is our common enemy, the embassy said. "Only when all countries of the world work together can we finally overcome the pandemic. China is willing to continue providing assistance and support to Nepal and all other countries in need to fight against COVID-19 within its capacity. We sincerely wish Nepal early victory over the pandemic and return to normal life," the embassy further said.

The materials had arrived in Nepal earlier on May 8 and 9.

The Chinese government has been showing solidarity with the Nepal government since the beginning of the viral outbreak in Nepal.

China has been providing medical support to countries across the globe after successfully containing the outbreak of Coronavirus in Wuhan Province.
