HETAUDA, July 7: ‘Chhakka Panja’ wins 10 accolades including Best Picture in the 9th annual D Cine Awards. The other top prizes went to Priyanka Karki and Bipin Karki who won awards for best actors of the calendar year for movies ‘Chhakka Panja’ and ‘Jatra’ respectively.
Deepak Raj Giri was awarded for the best actor in negative role and dialogue for highest grossing Nepali movie of the year ‘Chhakka Panja’. Meanwhile, Kedar Ghimire, popularly known as ‘Mangne Buda’, won the award for best actor in comic role for the same movie. Also, best debutant director went to Deepa Shree Niraula for ‘Chhakka Panja’.
Shristee Shrestha bagged the award for best debutant as a female actor for movie ‘Gajalu’ which also won the award for best direction and screenplay by Hemraj BC. Similarly, Aryan Adhikari was judged best debutant under male category for movie ‘Ke Ma Timro Hoina Ra’. The best story of the year was awarded to Rambabu Gurung’s ‘Katha’.
‘Teen Ghumti’ was awarded best picture by the jury. Similarly, critic’s award for best director went to Pradeep Bhattarai. Manoj RC and Menuka Pradhan were adjudged best actors for movies ‘Jhumki’ and ‘Purano Dhunga’ respectively. Milan Chyams won the Encouragement Award whereas public choice award went to Kali Prasad Baskota.
Concluding a successful night, ‘Chhakka Panja’ also won awards for best cinematographer, editor, music director, choreographer and singer. ‘Gajalu’ came second with 4 awards adding up the award for best background score, too. ‘Ke Ma Timro Hoina Ra’ came close with 3 awards which included best lyrics and method-acting by veteran actor Gauri Malla.
