KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Chairman of Interim Election Council Khil Raj Regmi, who is currently in New York, is set to address the 68th United Nations General Assembly at the UN headquarters at 8:30 pm according to Nepali time on Saturday.[break]

"Chairman Regmi will report about Nepal’s forthcoming Constituent Assembly elections, poverty alleviation, climate change, among others," his press coordinator Rajendra Pandey told Republica.

As per the schedule Chairman Regmi will hold meetings with India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and United Nations  Secretary General Ban Kin-moon on the sidelines of the assembly.

Regmi is being accompanied by his wife Shanta Regmi, his aide Prakash Regmi, Chief of Protocol Kali Prasad Pokharel and security guards. Despite suggestions made by the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) not to leave for New York as the government was gearing up for holding elections, Regmi left for New York  Thursday evening.

Given Nepal’s forthcoming CA elections, Regmi will cut short his visit and return home on Sunday.
