KATHMANDU, March 19: Finding no progress in resolving the disputes in constitution writing for weeks, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA)´s Constitutional Committee (CC) Nilamber Acharya has called a meeting of the top leaders from major political parties to discuss the latest progress on peace process and constitution writing.

Acharya has called the parliamentary party leaders and chief whips of UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, CA Chairman Subas Nembang and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai for the meeting. [break]

Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal from CPN-UML and one key leader each from the UCPN (Maoist) and NC have also been invited for the meeting.

"We at the CC´s meetings frequently gave the top leaders additional time to resolve the remaining disputes but no tangible progress has been made as of now, nor has any meeting of the CC´s dispute resolution subcommittee been convened to discuss the matter so far," Acharya told Republica.

He said the report of the state restructuring commission has been gathering dust at the CA chairman´s office but the political parties have not been able even to forward it to the CC.

"In such a worrying situation, I will ask the leaders what can be done in the remaining time," he said.
