CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, who is the party´s candidate from constituency 1 of the district, has vowed that he would strive to introduce policies that would promote the tea sector. “Our party will work for the development of tea sector,” Khanal said at a gathering. [break]
Subas Chandra Nemwang has been saying that he would free the tea sector of the problems it has been facing currently. Nemwang, who is also a UML candidate from Ilam district said, “We will resolve the problems facing the tea sector.”
Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate for the district Keshav Thapa also vowed to turn Ilam into a model district for tea farming. “Nepali congress will address all the problems facing farmers, entrepreneurs, laborers and industrialists,” Thapa said at a gathering.
However, tea farmers doubt if the leaders´ commitments would be implemented. “Leaders have not brought about any concrete change though they make such promises,” said Jeevan Sharma, a farmer.
