Canal built in Jajarkot against standard crumbles

JAJARKOT, June 9: The canal of the Jhumrekhola Irrigation Project has been crumbled less than one year of completion of works at Chhepka, Dandagaun VDC-5 in Jajarkot district.



The canal started to crumble as the contractors used materials against technical estimate including cement and rods. The contract of the project was given to Nepali Congress Jajarkot Member and Red Cross Jajarkot Branch President Sanat Karki. [break]



He gave the contract to another NC worker and Red Cross Sub Branch Dandagaun President Purna Bahadur Khatri. Khatri who was substitute contractor used 16 sacks of sand for one sack of cement in the canal, said local consumers.



The laborers in the construction have also not received wages so far, said Construction Committee Member Rajan Devkota. One Aite Kami was beaten up when he demanded money as wages.



The canal was weak as the contractor tried to take much profit from the construction.As the canal is crumbled in various places, water could not be brought in full capacity.
