CAN InfoTech Kavre kicks off

BANEPA, April 8: Midas EduKit CAN InfoTech Kavre kicked off on Friday with the objective of informing people about the latest development in the information and communication sector.



Inaugurating the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed that necessary preparations were being made to provide expand broadband internet service to rural areas. [break]



“We have made a separate policy for broadband service. I want to assure you that the service will soon reach rural areas,” said Mahara. He further added that the government plans to connect headquarters of all 75 districts through optical fiber soon.



Manohar Kumar Bhattarai, vice chairman of High Level Commission for Information Technology (HLCIT), said the commission was soon bringing into operation ´ICT Outreach Center´ for the first time in the district in coordination with CAN. “We will start e-agriculture, e-medicine and e-learning within 3 months,” said Bhattarai.



CAN Kavre is organizing ICT Conference and an interaction on ´Problems on Operating IT Park and its solutions´ on Saturday.



CAN Secretary Amrit Kumar Pant said the event would be organized on annual basis now onwards.



The event has a total of 60 stalls showcasing various products and services related to information technology. A total of 7,000 people visited the event on Friday, according to CAN. The association expects around 50,000 people to visit the event which will continue till Monday.
