CALM: A Place for good food and quality music

CALM: A Place for good food and quality music

KATHMANDU, Dec 19: Do you love going to restaurants? When somebody needs to hang out and needs to have some good food, restaurant is the first place that crosses the mind. However, the pertinent question remains, “Which restaurant?” The choice of the restaurant depends on various factors. During the day, people usually judge restaurants by good food. But the scenario might change by the time the sun goes down. Not only good food but also enough space in the restaurant plays a big role. People like to dance and spend time relaxing and listening to good music. A lot of restaurant serves good food and also get the floor rocking by the night time. One such restaurant is CALM.

CALM was founded by Sujan Shrestha, Avishek KC and Bikrant Shrestha in 2014. CALM is an amalgam of food, drinks and music all set for a party.

When asked about the inspiration behind the initiation of the restaurant, Sujan Shrestha said that it was the ‘music’ factor that motivated them. He added, “Music is something we love. And we don’t seek profit on doing the things we love. However, this restaurant is an outcome of the music we play.” Sujan also said that the restaurant was established to increase venues for live performances in the capital.

Despite the fact that the founders include the members of successful Nepali metal band Underside, the restaurant faces a problem in managing the human resource. According to Sujan, “Since the inception of the restaurant, there is a lack of stability in the flow of workers.” He also added that a good understanding and coordination lacked within the staffs. “When there is no understanding between staffs, they won’t feel like working. So, they leave,” adds Sujan.

Despite striking success in their ventures, the goals keep getting better. Likewise, Sujan wishes to increase the seating capacity of the restaurant. Besides, Sujan said, “It would be cool if CALM could create their own chain of business.”
