Call to address human rights violation incidents through transitional justice

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Nepal-based diplomatic community and human rights defenders have stressed the need to address the war-era human rights violation incidents through reliable transitional justice. 


It was insisted at a program jointly organized by the UN Office in Nepal, European Union, Germany and Israel here today in memory of the victims of the Holocaust that saw the killings of hundreds of thousands Jews during the Second World War.

On the occasion, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairperson Anup Raj Sharma said the commemoration of holocaust has recalled the mass killings and destructions that occurred in the past. 


Germany Ambassador to Nepal, Roland Schafer said it was a shameful incident for Germans that the holocaust took place in their country. 


The UN has been marking January 27 every year as the Holocaust Commemoration Day since 2005.
