Cable car to be built over Fewa Lake

KASKI (Pokhara), April 14: Preparations for the construction of cable car above the Fewa Lake are to start with the beginning of the Nepali New Year 2072.

The 1.6-km long cable car service will link Basundharapark near the Fewa Lake to the World Peace Stupa at Pumdi Bhumdi of Pokhara. The estimated cost of the cable car service is more than Rs 1.3 billion, it is said.


The Manakamana Darshan Chitwan Co-E company would construct the cable car as it was the same company that constructed the Manakaman Cable car in Gorkha. The company is constructing the cable car with the partnership an Austrian company Doppelmayr.

Executive Director at the company Rajesh Babu Shrestha stated that the construction works would soon begin as they were preparing the DPR for the purpose.

He added that they would complete the works within two years. Though the company had proposed to construct the cable car two years back, it got permission this March only. RSS
