Cabinet decides to give state honor to former PM Shrestha

KATHMANDU, Aug 15: The government has decided to accord state honour to the former Prime Minister Marichman Singh Shrestha who passed away Thursday morning. The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Thursday took this decision, said Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Prasad Poudel.



Similarly, the government has decided to send a delegation under the leadership of Finance Minister Shankar Prasad Koirala to participate in the joint meeting of the World Bank Groups and International Monetary Fund to be held in Washington DC of the US from October 11-13. [break]



Auditor General Bhanu Prasad Acharya will be leading a delegation to participate in the 21st general convention of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI) to be held in Beijing from 22-27 October, said the Spokesperson.



According to him, a draft of the ordinance relating to security arrangement for the distinguished personalities would be sent to the legislation committee of the Council of Ministers before sending it to President Dr Ram Baran Yadav to certify the ordinance.



Similarly, lieutenant general Netra Bahadur Thapa from the Office of the Chief of Staff of Nepal Army would be transferred to the Office of Chief of General Staff while major general Paban Bahadur Pandey from the Office of Chief of General Staff would be promoted to the post of Chief of Staff and install him at the Office of the Chief of Staff.



The rate of the revenue collected under the title 14521 of Nepal Army´s Archaeology was increased to Rs. 100, according to the Cabinet meeting.



The meeting also decided to send a delegation under the leadership of Secretary at Ministry of Forest and Soil Conservation, Dr Ganesh Raj Sharma, to participate in a meeting of a programme on formulation of plan on terrain geo circumference to be held in Washington DC from October 1-4.



The term of the relief and rehabilitation unit has been extended till mid July next year.



Moreover, a five-member delegation to participate in the 3rd International Child Labour Conference will be led by Minister for Labour and Employment. The conference will be held in Brasilia, Brazil from 8 to 10 October.



Spokesperson of the government, Mr Poudel said a delegation led by Minister for Health and Population will participate in the 31st meeting of health ministers from south east Asian countries, and in the 66th meeting of east Asian region of the World Health Organization.



He further said Professor Dr Om Gurung, chief of the department of sociology and anthropology in Tribhuvan University would be provided Rs 500,000 for treatment, while athlete Gita Shrestha, who has undergone kidney transplantation, would be provided air fare.



For the management of a separate act to the National Vigilance Centre, the government would prepare for a meeting with the stakeholders.



The Cabinet meeting also decided to send a delegation under the leadership of Foreign Secretary to participate in the meeting of foreign ministerial level consultative mechanism to be held in Beijing from 24 to 29 August 24-29.



Also, a delegation led by Secretary at Minister of Commerce and Supply will participate in the meeting of SAFTA to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka on August 23.
