BUTWAL, July 24: The local administration has announced a ban on vehicular movement during night on the Butwal-Palpa road section of the Siddhartha Highway starting today.

Due to significant erosion of nearly 50 meters of the road by Hiude Khola in Tinau Rural Municipality-5, Palpa, vehicular movement will be restricted from 7 PM to 6 AM until further notice to prevent potential damage.

Anand Kafle, Chief District Officer of Palpa, has stated that all vehicular traffic is prohibited during these hours. Permission from the local administration is required for emergency vehicles, such as ambulances, to operate during this period.

Incessant rains over the past few days have caused flooding in the Hiude Khola section, limiting vehicular movement to one direction. The road division office is working on repairs and establishing a diversion.

Given the hazardous conditions, the District Administration Office, Palpa, has urged people to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary and to limit vehicle use to those carrying essential goods. Similar flooding two years ago also disrupted vehicle operations for a week in the Hiude Khola area.
