Businessmen, Tharu activists clash in Bara

JITPUR, March 13: Protesting Tharus and local businessmen in Jitpur bazaar have engaged in violent clash, Friday afternoon. One person was serious injured in the clash.

The clash started after Tharu activists attempted to closed down shops in the bazaar forcefully. The businessmen said their businesses were badly hit by prolonged shutdown and they should be allowed to open shops.



The injured, Sohan Chaudhari from Chhouteuli in neighbouring Parsa district, has received a serious head injury to the head. Police have rushed him to Birgunj Hospital after he fell unconscious. Agitators have burnt down two motorcycles.



Local administration has deployed riot police to contain the situation as irate businessmen started targeting banda enforcers.
