Bus plunges into river, two killed

ROLPA, Oct 1: Two persons including the driver died when a bus heading for Sirpa of Rolpa district plunged into the Lungri River at Ruinibang area on Monday afternoon. The driver, Yam Bahadur Gharti Magar, 25, and Suryalal GM, 18, died on the spot, according to the chief of Rolpa District Police Office DSP Chitra Bahadur Gurung.

The bus of Ashirwad Transportation Private Limited with the number plate Ga 1 Kha 5537 was not carrying passengers and was on its way to the bus park. According to DSP Gurung, Gharti was a local of Lungri–3 and GM was from Lungri–2 in the district.

“The locals helped us in retrieving the bodies from the river,” said DSP Gurung. “The bodies have been sent to Sulichaur Primary Health Center for postmortem,” he added.

Monsoon rains have caused damage to most of the rural roads making them prone to accidents.
