KATHMANDU, May 20: The Buddha Air flight from Janakpur to Kathmandu was aborted on Saturday after a passenger spotted a rat in the plane.


Spokesman at Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Jagannath Niraula said  that the flight was stopped after a passenger saw a rat on the plane that was about to fly to Kathmandu at 9:30 am on Saturday morning.

The aircraft reached Janakpur at 8:30. But as the aircraft  was about to leave for Kathmandu, a passenger saw the rat in the aircraft, said spokesperson Niraula. A total of 49 passengers had boarded the plane.


“It was an aircraft that had flown from Kathmandu. It was about to come to Kathmandu carrying passengers from there. The passengers were seated. At that time, the passengers saw a rat in the aircraft," he said.


A team of engineers from Kathmandu is preparing to go to Janakpur after receiving the news that a rat was found on the aircraft. He said that the aircraft will be flown only after the engineers examine it.


Niraula said that preparations are being made to keep the aircraft there and bring the passengers from another aircraft.
