DHARAN, August 19: BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan has been helping the flood victims in Southern Sunsari through mobile health camp.

The institute informed that the camp aims at raising health awareness among flood victims and providing free health care service. Vice-Chancellor of BPKIHS, Dr Rajkumar Rauniyar, said a team of health workers started their venture on Wednesday and will set the camp off on Saturday. 

On Thursday, health workers carried out the camp in Devanganj and Kaptanganj of Sunsari. "The chances of infections and epidemic become high after the flood. We decided to conduct the health camp so that the risk can be eradicated," Rauniyar said.

The team of health workers consists of Dr Prashant Pratap Shah, Dr Ritesh Chaudhary, Dr Kashyap Dahal, Dr Akshat Mishra, Dr Jitendra Thakur and Dr Anju Shakya, Nurses Ammal Rai and Srijana Pradhan along with volunteers Rajan Koirala and Khadga Raut. 

Also, Dr Deepak Moktan, Dr Rajan Poudel, Dr Bhuwaneshwor Yadav, Dr Shubham Gupta and Dr Anjana Parajuli with nurses Kamala Rai and Sangita Koirala have been providing health care to the flood victims under the leadership of Dr Rabin Bhandari, head of Family Medicine Department of the institute. 

Due to the lack of awareness, clean food and water, most of the victims are suffering from jaundice, diarrhea, fever, cold and cough, nausea, dizziness and several skin diseases, according to Dr Rabin Bhandari. He mentioned that most kids had cold and rashes. "The victims’ health condition is critical. This camp is essential to prevent an epidemic."
