Bottled drinking water price reverted to previous rate

KATHMANDU, Oct 13: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has reversed the price of bottled water to the previously practiced rates.

According to the department, the price of 20-liter jar water has been set at Rs 50 and 1 liter bottled water at Rs 16 in the Kathmandu Valley and Kavrepalanchowk district. 

Earlier, the traders had raised the price of jar water by Rs 10 to 15 per 20 liter Jar water.

The department set a new price for drinking water after discussions with representatives of traders on Monday.

The department has also directed the traders not to hike the price of drinking water unless the parliamentary committee makes any further decision.

The department has also formed a five-member committee to monitor black marketeering and illegal activities in the market as the festive season is just a few days away.
