KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah has requested cooperation with Lalitpur Metropolitan City (LMC) for the establishment of Newa: Civilization University and cleaning of the Bagmati River.

Mayor Shah made such a request at a program organized on Saturday on the occasion of the 104th Foundation Day of Lalitpur Metropolitan Municipality. He argued that since KMC and LMC cannot do these works alone, the cooperation of both the metropolises is necessary.

Similarly, Mayor Shah also made it clear that Newa: Civilization-related university and Bagmati cleanup work will be a good message for the development of Kathmandu Valley. He mentioned that Newa-related University will play an important role in handing over our art, culture and civilization to the new generation and also internationalizing it, and also expressed the view that the necessary arrangement of land would be easy for LMC.

Mayor Shah also said that KMC should learn many things from LMC regarding the preservation of heritage. He also mentioned that after learning from the concept put forward by the LMC for the protection of the ancient  Dhunge Dhara (water spouts), they are going to cooperate with the Pulchowk Engineering College to advance that work.
