I will run for mayorship again if the party wants me to: KMC Mayor Shakya

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has said that he will contest in the election for KMC Mayor again, if the party gives him the ticket in the upcoming local level elections. 

Inaugurating a park at Gofal Tole at Kathmandu-21 on Thursday, Mayor Shakya said that the foundation for cultural heritage has been laid in many places in his tenure and that he will complete their construction very soon. 

Mayor Shakya also said that it is the duty and responsibility of the metropolis to preserve and enhance historical and cultural heritages, as well as to connect them with tourism. He also claimed that the heritages will be preserved in the future as per the policy of the metropolis. 

“Kathmandu is a historical and cultural city with temples everywhere. Whoever they were made by in the past, they are a part of our cultural heritage at present. KMC is fully dedicated toward preserving them,” he said. Mayor Shakya also shared that there is still a bit of work to finish the construction of Rani Pokhari which will be opened for the public very soon.
