Borders to remain closed during Indian polls

NEPALGUNJ, March 17: Nepali and Indian security officials in the bordering region have agreed to close the border entry points for two during Lokshabha elections in India. The elections is scheduled on 23 and 30 of April in bordering districts of Baharaich and Shri Basti of Uttar Pradesh in India.



The officials in the meeting held in Rupedia of UP in India also agreed to set up a joint panel of police officers from both the sides to control cross border crimes and report the activities every month, according to Ganesh Bahadur Khatri, Chief District Officer of Banke.



The officials agreed to adopt effective measures to control smuggling of drugs, fake currencies, liquor and timber across the border.
