KATHMANDU, Oct 11: In a program held in Patan, Lalitpur, the launch of 'Living in the Mist', a poignant body of work by Kishor Sharma, took place, accompanied by an exhibition, on Wednesday.

This book, creatively designed by Valentina Abenavoli and translated by Prawin Adhikari, provides an intriguing look into the Raute community, a nomadic group in Nepal.

Kishor Sharma, who has been documenting the Raute community since 2011, offers a captivating portrayal of their unique way of life. The Raute people, often regarded as Nepal's last nomadic tribe, have chosen not to own land and have declined to accept official state citizenship documents.

'Living in the Mist' offers a poignant insight into the Raute community’s existence and their resistance to assimilation into the "modern" world. It encourages us to contemplate the potential for alternative and autonomous lifestyles.

The exhibition, orchestrated by the curatorial and production team comprising Sagar Chhetri, Shikhar Bhattarai, and Shristi Shrestha, is accessible until November 30. It is open every day from 11 AM to 7 PM at Patan House, Dhaugal, except on Mondays.
