BIRGUNJ, Oct 8: The body of a 14-year old girl has been taken under control by Parsa Police while her final rites were being performed at a graveyard at Murli Nayantol in Birgunj Metropolitan City-13.
According to the police, the girl was an Indian national and her body was taken under control after they received information that she had died due to bleeding due to rape. “The body has been kept at Narayani Hospital for a postmortem and will be sent to Kathmandu for further autopsy,” said Superintendent of Police of Parsa, Bel Bahadur Pandey.
The teenager, who is from Khamiya village near Inerwa Bazaar in the western Champaran district of Bihar, India, is also sister-in-law of Zakir Miya, the youngest son of Jalim Miah, the head of Jagannathpur Rural Municipality. She had come to her nephew's house.
“It has been found that the girl was admitted to a hospital by Zakir Miya for excessive bleeding on September 26. She was discharged from the hospital on September 28 and was taken by Zakir himself,” SP Pandey said. “We had received information that the girl died due to excessive bleeding because of rape. It is not possible to say for sure what exactly had happened but during the investigation, many suspicious acts have been found.”
There is a difference of one week between the time of discovery of the body and the time of discharge. Meanwhile, the police are trying to reach the conclusion on what happened to the girl.
Police have arrested nine people in connection with the incident. However, the arrested have said that the teenager was brought to Birgunj for treatment and died as her health deteriorated.
According to police, if the incident is proved to be a case of rape and murder by the autopsy, even the hospital will face the consequences for trying to hide the incident. Police said that many aspects of the incident are yet to be investigated.
