DHANKUTA, Nov 29: Sansarimai Puja Simsar Conservation Council has begun boating service in a bid to attract tourists in the new ponds built recently in Pakhribas Municipality-4 of Dhankuta district.
The council has built three ponds, purchased two boats, constructed roads and picnic spots along with a 30-feet high statue of Buddha to develop the popular destination of domestic tourists. A total Rs 260,000 was invested for building the ponds.
"The area has been a popular destination for the past 25 years. A total of Rs 7.5 million has been invested so far to develop this tourist destination," Gyan Bahadur Gurung, president of the council, said. A group of tourists has to pay Rs 700 to Rs 1000 as the entrance fee based on their size, whereas the fee for boating is Rs 200 per hour.
