Ganga Ghimire, 32, has been teaching at Janapremi Resham Lal Paramananda Lower Secondary School in Triyuga-7, Bagaha for the past four years and supporting her family that is living with her in rented rooms. [break]
Her two sisters are also born without sight and other two sisters and a brother are unemployed leaving her as the sole breadwinner in the family that also includes an elderly mother.
Her family supported her desire to study and she completed her secondary education from her village in Kavrepalanchowk. She completed her proficiency certificate level from Kathmandu with help of organizations supporting persons with disability and is currently pursuing her bachelor´s level second year.
“I got a job due to my education,” she said. “I wish to continue my higher education while also continuing the job to support my family. “I don´t know whether I will get any help to continue my education,” she stated her anxiety.

She has been appointed teacher under relief quota under special reservation for people with physical disabilities and has been teaching students from the first grade to the seventh.
She has got Braille text-books from the same organizations that helped with her education and is doing well with her teaching job. She admits that she struggled to teach in the beginning but says she now feels comfortable.
The students had also found it a bit harder to understand in the beginning, said principal of the school Uddhav Ghimire, but they have become accustomed to her way of teaching now. Ghimire said the management has customized the school environment and even her journey from the rented rooms to the school to her requirements.
She has not married yet but wishes to settle down once she becomes independent.
