BIRGUNJ, Aug 7: Birgunj Metropolitan City witnessed 141 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.
Of the fresh cases detected at Narayani HospitalCOVID-19 Laboratory, 21 are females and 120 are males including a policeman and 43 inmates of District Police Office, according to the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Madan Upadhyay. “Eight are from neighboring districts - four each from Bara and Parsa.”
Five Nepal Army personnel have also contracted the virus.
Even if the metropolitan city is under curfew orders, COVID-19 cases have spiked there at an alarming rate in recent days. Effective and immediate measures to curb the further transmission of COVID-19 is required, according to experts.
