BIRGUNJ, Sept 21: The Birgunj Customs Office has collected Rs 25.40 billion in revenue by mid-September in the current fiscal year (FY) 2024/2025, achieving 71% of the targeted Rs 35.57 billion.
According to the Chief Customs Administrator Deepak Lamichhane, the revenue has increased by nearly Rs 1 billion compared to the same period last year, with petroleum products being the highest import during this time.
Birgunj Customs collects Rs 236.31 billion as revenue
In previous years, a large number of petroleum vehicles were imported through the Birgunj Customs Office, but this time, the number of electric vehicles has increased.
By mid-August, the customs office had set a target of collecting Rs 16.87 billion, but only Rs 12.16 billion was collected.
In mid-August of the last fiscal year 2023/2024, Rs 13.24 billion was collected out of the targeted Rs 18.70 billion, as reported by the custom office.
