The agitating hospital staffers had started strike on November 13 demanding resignation of Dr Dali, alleging that he failed to bring in any substantial change in the academy and the hospital during his two-year service.
The staffers also demanded hospital management to grant permanent appointment to all temporary staffers, bring uniformity in perks and facilities that the hospital employees are entitled to, recruit new staffs to fulfill vacant posts and bring transparency in financial deals.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Population, Giri Raj Mani Pokhrel issued a statement expressing ministry’s concern over the difficulties faced by the patients visiting the hospital and students studying at the NAMS. The ministry has formed a five-member committee to investigate incidents that took place during the strike.
The committee coordinated by the chief of Policy Planning and International Cooperation Division has chairperson of Nepal Health Professional Council, registrar of Nepal Medical Council, chairperson of Nepal Nursing Council and representative from the ministry as members.
Earlier today, five senior officials including the hospital director Dr S. K. Chaudhari resigned from their posts to calm down the protest.
