KATHMANDU: Dr Prabin Mishra has been appointed acting director of Bir Hospital, after Dr Shrawan Kumar Chaudhari resigned from his post on Sunday.
A further four other key officials also resigned to help resume hospital services hard hit by the strike which was carried out over three weeks. Staff withdrew their protest after the officials resigned.
Services at the hospital remain affected, however, as over 100 resident doctors launched another strike last Saturday demanding safer and better conditions, such as adequate accommodation, drinking water supplies, and sterile slippers and gowns needed to be worn in the operating theater.
