Bhattarai-led govt should stay, says Yadav

NEW DELHI, Oct 20: Senior Indian leader and Janata Dal (United) President Sarad Yadav, who has long played a crucial role in improving relationship between Nepal´s Maoists and India, has said that both the Nepali Congress and the CPN-UML must help the present government to resolve all issues of the peace process and constitution drafting and to convert it into a “strong one”.



Speaking with Nepali mediapersons at his residence in Delhi on the eve of Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai´s visit to India, Yadav said, “Both NC and UML are important and if they help all issues of peace process and constitution making will be resolved.”[break]



Stating that all the “pending works” of the peace process must be concluded at the earliest, Yadav said, “India wants peace and stability in Nepal. All other things will follow after that.”



Yadav, who is also the convener of the opposition NDA (National Democratic Alliance) , said, “There are differences between and among the parties, but when it comes to foreign policy we are all one in India,” adding, “We all want peace in Nepal. We must forget past differences and look for better relations with Nepal.”



Referring to Bhattarai´s visit, he said, “India wants peace and stability in Nepal and India will assure Dr Bhattarai of its support to the peace process and constitution making.” He added, “Bhattarai is a seasoned man and all should help him.”



“India will fully try to do its best to help the current situation in Nepal,” Yadav said, adding, “This government should stay.”
