Minister Tripathi made the allegation during an interview to be aired on the Himalayan Television Saturday evening, the Reporters’ Club informed. [break]
During the interview, Tripathi, also vice-chairman of Terai Madhes Democratic Party, said NC and UML have to face stern opposition in Terai if they continue to ‘oppose’ Madhes issues.
Stating that the country does not only belong to NC and UML, Tripathi said the ruling parties would soon jointly discuss the issue to figure out ways to resist the NC-UML’s demand.
Opposition parties including NC and UML have demanded that Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai fire Minister Bhandari over his controversial statement that no law in the country could stop the 22 Terai districts from seceding if state shows apathy to address their concerns.
Of late, NC and UML have stepped up their call for sacking of Bhandari as government minister, with the parties beginning a determined bid to press for their demand through obstruction of House proceedings.
On the occasion, the TMDP leader also made it clear that Minister Bhandari would not in any way step down as he has already publicly furnished clarification for his remark.
“There will be no resignation coming in through House obstruction. That [the act of House obstruction] will be confronted,” Minister Tripathi warned during the interview.
