KATHMANDU, September 12: President of Janata Pragatisheel Party, Nepal, Hridayesh Tripathi has said that there is no option for President Bidya Devi Bhandari but to certify the 'Bill to amend the Nepal Citizenship Act, 2063'.
He argued that President Bhandari had no option but to verify the bill, which was passed by both houses of the federal parliament for the second time, based on the constitution and the recognition of parliamentary supremacy.

Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Monday, he also warned that if the bill, which came as a signpost for implementing the constitutional system related to citizenship, is not verified by the president even for the second time, the country will be in an unfortunate situation.
He reiterated many times that since the bill only provides for the implementation of clause 3 of Article 11 of the Constitution, President Bhandari can reconsider it for the first time, but she does not have that right for a second time.
Tripathi said that since the provision of citizenship in the bill to grant non-resident Nepali rights other than political ones is also constitutional, it should be considered otherwise and should not be politicized. On that occasion, he pressed the government to immediately release the prisoners of the Tikapur incident, including MP Resham Chaudhary, who was elected to the House of Representatives but is currently in jail on murder charge.
