BHAKTAPUR, March 2: Chief District Officer (CDO) of Bhaktapur has directed police to immediately stop working to change the course of Manohara rivulet at the border of Changu VDC and Danchhi VDC of Kathmandu.

CDO Deepak Raj Nepal ordered police in writing after locals and representatives of political parties in district lodged written complaint saying that the diversion of the rivulet is carried out affecting world heritage site, Changu Narayan temple, and putting human settlement in Changu VDC-2 at risk.

District chiefs of the UCPN (Maoist), the Nepali Congress, the CPN-UML, the Rastriya Prajatantra Party and the CPN-ML had registered complaint demanding CDO Nepal take initiative to stop changing the course of rivulet.

The temple and settlement have been in stake after locals of Danchhi diverted the course of rivulet without taking prior approval from Bhaktapur District Development Committee, District Administration Office and Changu Narayan VDC.
