KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Following the dissolution of the lower house of the federal parliament and announcement of the midterm election, factions within the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) appear to be spending all their energy to show their strength.
Prime Minister Oli and rival faction chairman within the NCP Pushpa Kamal Dahal are asking each other to see their gathering, apparently to give an impression that they command a larger public support.

“Witnessing a few thousand people participating from all across the country, Dahal had asked me to come and see what a mass gathering looks like and here I am not talking about the whole nation but a province and this is what a mass gathering looks like so better you come and see,” said Oli.
Oli’s remarks came in response to Dahal’s suggestion earlier to him that he should visit Bhrikutimandap to see how the mass gathering looks like. Dahal was addressing the mass gathering organized by his faction in the capital last week.
Referring to the same remarks of Dahal, Prime Minister Oli asked Dahal that it would be better if Dahal comes and sees how a mass gathering looks like in Butwal. Oli led faction of NCP is scheduled to host similar gatherings in Janakpur, Biratnagar, Surkhet and Pokhara in days to come.
