GORKHA, Oct 10: A road section linking Barpak and Laprak of Gorkha district has been obstructed for the past three months.

He complained that the rural municipality has not taken any necessary efforts for the repair and maintenance of the road section.
The upgrading work of the Barpak-Laprak road section was started after signing a contract with a construction company on May 22, 2020, but it remains incomplete even after 41 months.
The Infrastructure Development Office, Gorkha, had given responsibility to the construction company - Sharma/Bikki JV - to complete the upgrading works within two years at a cost of Rs 341.57 million. Only 52 per cent of physical progress of the project has been achieved so far, said Office Chief Ganesh Subedi.
The responsibility was given to the construction company to gravel the 13.14 kilometer Barpak-Laprak road section. The deadline of the project was extended in order to complete the works within June 5, 2023, but the upgrading work has not been completed yet.
Chief Subedi shared that the construction company has been delaying projects under various pretexts.
Difficulties have surfaced to transport food stuffs at Laprak and Gumda as well as taking patients to hospitals in lack of timely completion of the upgrading work.
