BARCELONA, Aug 20: Barcelona defender Javier Mascherano will miss the club's Spanish league opener after he injured his leg on Wednesday.
Mascherano pulled a muscle in his right leg late in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup. The club says he will be sidelined for a week.

Andres Iniesta and Jeremy Mathieu were already to miss Saturday's league opener against Real Betis after picking up injuries in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.
A right-knee knock is expected to sideline Iniesta for two weeks, while Mathieu has a torn leg muscle.
Barcelona will be aiming for a third straight Liga title this season.
