SARLAHI, Jan 8: Ending the three-day-long demonstrations, the agitating locals in Barathahawa, Sarlahi, have inked an 11-point agreement with the local administration. They have withdrawn all their protest activities following the agreement deal.

SARLAHI, Jan 8: Ending the three-day-long demonstrations, the agitating locals in Barathahawa, Sarlahi, have inked an 11-point agreement with the local administration. They have withdrawn all their protest activities following the agreement deal


They had launched protests after a local youth was killed in police firing on Friday. As per the agreement signed at the District Administration Office in Malangawa on Sunday, the municipal hospital located at Barahathawa will be handed over to the Madhes Province Government as demanded by the agitating locals.

According to Chief District Officer Komal Prasad Dhamala, the hospital will be upgraded to 50 beds and it will be renamed after the youth killed in the incident on Friday. 


Likewise, the government will provide employment opportunities to one of the family members of the youth killed in the incident. 


The 30-year-old Jay Shankar Sah was killed in the clash that erupted between the demonstrators and security persons as the locals demonstrated for upgrading a primary health center of Barahathawa Municipality-6.


With the deal signed on Sunday evening, the agitating side has agreed to receive the dead body of late Sah for last rites.
