NHRC: Navaraj Subedi under house arrest without a warrant

KATHMANDU, April 4:  The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has stated that it is continuously monitoring the aftermath of the Tinkune incident on March 28 and the status of individuals involved.  



In a statement released on Friday, the NHRC reported that it has been following regular updates on individuals under custody, those injured and undergoing treatment, and those allegedly placed under house arrest.

According to the NHRC, Navaraj Subedi, coordinator of the 'Joint People's Movement Committee for Monarchy Restoration,' has been kept under police surveillance at his own residence. A monitoring team led by NHRC member Manoj Duwadi confirmed the matter during a visit to Subedi’s residence, as mentioned in a statement by NHRC Spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel.  


The commission, which has been monitoring the situation since the first day of the incident, has also been assessing the condition of detainees and those injured during the incident.  


The NHRC has urged all parties to cooperate with the ongoing investigation into the Tinkune riot.
