Governor Adhikari officially retires from NRB after five-year tenure

Adhikari said that his five-year tenure experienced various ups and downs, and there were attempts to interfere with the autonomy of NRB.

KATHMANDU, April 4: The Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Maha Prasad Adhikari, has retired from the bank after completing his tenure of five years. Adhikari, who was appointed as the Governor of April 6, 2020 has officially taken leave starting Friday. 



After officially retiring from his position, Adhikari held a press conference within the premises of the NRB. Adhikari said that his five-year tenure experienced various ups and downs, and there were attempts to interfere with the autonomy of NRB.

He stated that during his tenure, he operated the NRB in accordance with global standards and its core principles, and expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court, judges, and lawyers for their support in preserving the bank's autonomy.


Similarly, he thanked the former Deputy Governors, current Deputy Governors, retired executive directors and staff, current executive directors and staff, as well as the media for their support throughout his tenure.
