The fire that started from the house of Pramod Hajari ended up gutting 38 huts and numerous cow sheds, and villagers had to run for their lives, leaving behind all their possessions. [break]
All our food stock, clothing and other property was destroyed in the fire and now we have nothing left, said a fire victim, Dil Maya Yadav. "Not just us but some of the domestic animals that escaped the fire are also starving because all the fodder we had was burnt," said Yadav.
Some of the fire victims have been identified, including Mahendra Paswan, Acchelal Paswan, Tulsi Hajri, Binda Thakur, Ghuspal Chaudhary, Hawaldar Mukhiya, Sarfhalal Yadab and Mukti Sah.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Thakur Prasad Gyawali informed that an exact assessment of property loss in the fire is not yet ready. "The process of putting together the report is ongoing and we have deployed security personnel for the purpose," said Gyawali.
Meanwhile, as immediate compensation for the fire victims, a team compromising Bara Chief District Officer Thaman Singh Thapa, SP Gyawali and chief of the Armed Police Force at the border check post SP Kalidas Shrestha has distributed Rs 1,000 to each fire victim along with mattresses and beaten rice as immediate succor.
Thaman said that Nepal Red Cross is also collecting relief materials for the displaced families.
According to locals, property worth around Rs 5 million was destroyed in the fire.
