Banke is at high risk of coronavirus

RANJHA, Jan 13: The risk of coronavirus infection has gradually heightened in Banke district due to weak regulation on the movement of people across the Nepal-India open border. Though people entering via the Nepalgunj-based Jamunaha checkpoint have gone through coronavirus tests, the movement of the people through open entry points in other rural areas has been grossly unregulated.

RANJHA, Jan 13: The risk of coronavirus infection has gradually heightened in Banke district due to weak regulation on the movement of people across the Nepal-India open border. Though people entering via the Nepalgunj-based Jamunaha checkpoint have gone through coronavirus tests, the movement of the people through open entry points in other rural areas has been grossly unregulated.



According to Resource Person at District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (DCCMC), Tej Ale, the Nepali people returning from India lately have been found to have contracted the coronavirus infection in an increasing manner.

He further said that 27 new cases of coronavirus were detected at Jamunaha checkpoint on Wednesday. A total of 17 infected, including 11 males and six females are staying at the Nepalgunj-based Balmandir isolation centre as of Wednesday. All of them are from other districts.


In view of the rise in the infection rate, the District Administration Office has issued orders not to form crowds and follow the health safety protocols in the district.
